New Teaching Space

8/12/2022

Good Morning!!! The space that I will be expanding into a teaching studio is just next door to my studio. This is a huge Convenience for me. It is bittersweet as my neighbors @thirdsunpro are moving. I will miss them Immensely and appreciate them in making the dream possible for me. I have had several studios and live spaces in @artspace_utah over many years. They too have been supportive of my small business and now it’s expansion. I can’t thank them enough for the support, and EMG Management always taking care of the spaces. There are so many I want to thank for this and just not the space. Please know that it takes many people to make the world go around. I could not have done this without you. Cheers to the next chapter. @sarinda.jones #utahartteaching #artworkshops #meltingglass #stayglassy #amazingsupporters

Pilchuck 2021 BREATH Residency

BREATH RESIDENCY

I was humbled to be invited to Richard Parrish and Steve Klein's Breath Residency in September 2021. The location was Pilchuck Glass School and the serene campus. Truly an incredible experience to further the artistic journey with rich experiences.

I was not sure up until the last minute that all the planets would align for me to go. Yet they did and I am truly grateful.

If I could encourage any artist to take the time for an extended residency. I will always tell you, go..... Find a way to go!!

I did not touch glass for the first few days and wow that was just amazing to relinquish the need to be doing and making. I spent some time walking, sitting on the dock of the pond, made friends with a cat named Boots. Really I just soaked up the place and timing of this event.

Take a Breath
Take that Moment
Take another cup sip of coffee
Take a smile and laugh
Take a BREATH

"Breath" has a lot of meaning to me and I have a good start on a new body of work and I will be taking the time to create from the heart once again. Looking forward to embracing my good friends and good times again soon.  “Breath is the bridge which connects life to consciousness, which unites your body to your thoughts. Whenever your mind becomes scattered, use your breath as the means to take hold of your mind again.”

Hello Creatives....

I have been looking for a way to bring monthly Kilnformed Glass lessons to you. I have gone back and forth on the platform I wanted to represent my business and be easy for you to use.
So here we are.

Please promote this page to your glass communities. This will be the main educational way I will be teaching.
This will be different from my "Glass Memberships" sold on my website. as you will provide all the materials yourself and you will get various different lessons here on a monthly basis. There is a VIP tier that will provide glass business information.

Here is the welcome letter to explain more of how Patreon works. The above image is what we have already created this year.

February: Cast Glass Heart
March: On Edge Plate
April: Lusters
May: Dashes and Dots
June: Wafer Landscapes
July: Enamels
Aug: TBD

Dear Patrons,
Welcome to my Patreon page.
As you move around the lessons. Let me know if you have any questions. We also have a PRIVATE facebook share page if you would like to join. I will send the link after the email. A Sincere Thank you and I look forward to seeing what you create.
The workshops I teach are fully my creations and techniques. Some educators pay other artists to fund their creative content. You will also have voting power for the future lessons.
As you know there are three different tiers here.
Tier one: you will receive an extensive syllabus with photos and firing schedules.
Tier two: you will receive the above and access to a more in-depth video. Videos are a great way to dive in deeper and see how I create.
Tier three: you will receive the above and access to a third lesson on the art of business. Where we go into everything from taking good photos, processing photos, applying to art shows etc…
Every month there will be a VIP recipient that is awarded the project that we created at the end of the month. I ship the project for free to the VIP member. This is a way for me to say thank you for being a participant in this amazing group.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. I know I am using this platform differently than other artists here.
Face the brilliance of your most wonderful creations and dwell on your dreams.

Thank you for joining me on this wonderful glass journey.
Be Well-

During November I typically have an open house where I invite individuals into my studio to share in the holiday season. This year is a different Scenario! I will be putting items in the winter sale section on my website. These items are pieces that I’ve made for teaching demos, creations that need a home, and priced to go. To sweeten the deal I will be giving the first 10 patrons a set of INK gift cards and a random client will receive my 2021 calendar with a magnetic clip. Set an alarm so you won’t miss it.

Here is the link.

Hope you all are doing well.

:: Exciting News ::
Registration is now open for my online Smithonian Associates glass workshop.

http://www.sarindajones.com/art-workshops.html

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Create a colorful fused and slumped glass plate just in time for holiday table settings, gift giving, or everyday use! Create a unique design using a clear glass base and colorful stringers – fine glass rods that can be manipulated without additional cutting tools. Instructor Sarinda Jones, a kiln-formed glass artist and alumna of the internationally renowned Pilchuck Glass School, presents a short history of art glass and guides students through the creation of their own plate. Afterward, there is a discussion of post-kiln results.
A kit ($70) is available for purchase from the instructor, which includes glass and other supplies, firing, step-by-step instructions, and shipping fees. Students should expect to spend an additional $8 to ship their plate to the instructor for firing. Beginners are welcome, and a playful spirit is encouraged.
